Wedding Jitters: My first wedding// Mark&Britt

Now when I say first wedding, I don't mean the first wedding that I have ever been to. I have 19 first cousins on my mother's side alone. By the close of this year I will have attended over 20 weddings. However going into shooting my first wedding, I was terrified. I got this shoot because I had known the groom almost my entire life and he was basically another older brother to me. I has originally asked if they needed engagement photos (they had already done them) but he said if you want we'd love for you to second shoot alongside our other photographer to build my portfolio. I of course agreed. The nerves of shooting a wedding did not set in until about a month before the wedding and I realized it was actually happening. It was a whole new level of pressure, you can't have the bride and groom redo their first kiss as husband and wife. Thats just not something you do.My equipment consisted of my Canon Rebel XS with stock 18-55mm lens and my newly purchased Canon Speedlite 580EXII. That was it, I didn't have any other lenses, cameras or equipment, nothing fancy. I did have the pleasure of shooting alongside a photographer almost as new as myself. She had previously done one wedding before and it was an adventure for both of us.

Regardless of how nervous I was to be shooting a wedding for the first time, it honestly had me hooked. I love the rush and pressure of only having one change to get the perfect shot. I love the atmosphere and great celebration surrounding a wedding and overall happiness that surrounds the event. Weddings can be stressful but they have a special beauty and I love being the one that captures the moments of their special day that the couple gets to last them a lifetime!

Mark and Britt were an amazing couple to have for my first wedding shoot. They were both relaxed, trusting, and had a lot of faith in me to let me be their wedding photographer when I'd never done one before. The wedding party was equally awesome; they were all smiles, willing to pose and listened to my direction. The wedding had it's hiccups like any wonderful wedding does, the groomsmen forgot the rings and had to go get them, and the other photographer forgot her extra memory cards, I was a nervous wreck afraid i was going to mess up any moment but all in all it was an amazing experience and I'm very glad and grateful for the experience.
